German Dampfbier
Literally “steam beer”, dampfbier originated from the Bavarian forests of Germany. It is a simple, working-man’s beer made of base barley malt and fermented with the yeast typically used for hefe-weizens. It leads to a medium-bodied beer with high phenolic aromas and flavors of banana and cloves.
food paringsLighter fair that will not overpower the dampfbier’s flavor will do best together. Mildy-seasoned sausages, salads, fish.
